I can remember the big (it seemed really bit at the time) pool. Warm and so much fun.
Now, fifty-some years later, the pool above is a ruin. It was in service until 1984 but safety concerns about the crumbling foundations and unstable rocks led to its abandonment. In 1986, the present facility opened.
We turned back at the sulphury springs that bubbled hot out of the yellow-green rocks. There are actually three springs that supply the Miette Pools.
The cabins, motel and chalet are rustic, originals from 1938. They are beautifully maintained and the Fiddle Valley is surrounded by mountain peaks.
A mountain sheep and her yearling wandered into the resort, looking for food. Both were very tame and we were told by one of the staff that there were seven bears who visited in the spring.
