A 78 day election campaign? Really? I am already tired of the rhetoric and the crises. When the economy is slowing, fall is in the air and international catastrophes threaten,, our news and media are crammed with more clips of fawning politicians. They hold rallies, make "baby-kissing" appearances and say nothing much.
Early on I did watch the MacLean's Leaders debate. ALL the federal leaders, including Elizabeth May, were there and given equal time. I know why the three leaders of "major parties" don't want to include May. She is way too smart and quick with actual facts for them. She was the outstanding participant if you judged by knowledge of legislation and parliamentary records and announcements. She leads the Green Party which everyone sees as a bunch of hippies and scary environmentalists like Green Peace.
That was the most we have seen of May. The other three leaders are afforded time ad nauseum on national news. Time to rant about each other. Good for drinkiing games, I guess. If you had the phrase, "just isn't working", the name, Justin or the Senate Scandal, you'd be saved the agony of listening to too much more of the politicians' sniping and "announcements."
78 days of this is just way too long. Too many American-style attack ads. It might be a ploy of the ruling party to, among other things, simply fatigue voters. They'll be so tired of the election, that they just won't turn out. Another dismal day for Democracy in Canada.
Yes, I'm of a certain age but I'm pretty spry and like to think still smart enough.
