This is my mother's wedding announcement. It came to me though the mail today from a cousin who doesn't live far away (only twenty minutes) but we don't see each other often.I'm sure Mom had one or more among her keepsakes but I still find it hard to look at the things she saved and treasured. I know she died seven years ago in January but that doesn't change how I feel.
When I was five, my great Aunt Gert (aka. Mrs. G. Aries) came from England
to visit. Only now do I appreciate what an undertaking it was for someone in 1952 who had never traveled outside of the old country, to come all the way to the wilderness of Alberta. Mom's brother in the Navy was Henry Hooper.
The other "pop-up" from the past came via a Weebly comment to a posting on this site. Mom's god-daughter in Yorkshire, England sent me a note. She didn't see Mom often but met her at her wedding in 1985. In 1992 or 1993, Mom and a friend came to see the whole family. They say things happen in threes? I wonder what is next.
I've been married a long time and often write about everyday events.
